The series is really worth seeing. It shows war in a German drama in a way it has never been shown before: as brutal, violent and horrifying. The most important thing about the series is, however, that it has ignited a discussion in Germany. Ordinary German people changed (mostly for the worse) because of the war - but against their own will. Instead of just feeling guilty, Germans are starting to understand and grieve: no matter how guilty the nazis are, the ordinary Germans still suffered at least as much as other people struck by the World War II - or even more.
